Healthy Habits Challenge: The other 23 hours

YouTube video

How can you improve the 23 hours you spend outside the gym?  The daily habits we practice (both good and bad) shape the results we see from our workouts and play a major role in how fast we will see results and how much progress we make.  Our daily habits also have a profound impact on our overall health and life span with recent research attributing 60% of pre-mature death to lifestyle factors. That means 60% of pre mature deaths are caused by choices we make everyday. I want to help you make the best choices possible so you can maximize the number of days you have, and the quality of those days.

To this end, we are launching our 1st Healthy Habits challenge to help you develop the healthy habits that will help you live out your IT.  Building these healthy habits will help you take daily, small steps towards your goals and help you build a consistent and steady momentum towards being at your best each and every day. The best part, you won’t be alone in building these habits.  We will be with you every step of the way.

Your healthy habits challenge will start June 22nd and run until July 21st and focus on building 4 healthy habits into your daily routine.  These healthy habits will help you feel better, improve your overall energy and amplify the work you’re already doing in the gym (along with helping you stay accountable at the gym). You may even find yourself dropping some unwanted pounds to kick off the summer!

This won’t be easy, but it will be worth it! Reserve your spot here:

Your healthy habits challenge will focus on building 4 habits into your daily routine.

  1. No sweet treats
  2. 1 hour of movement a day (class at that gym, walk, jog, bike etc)
  3. Drink ½ gallon of water or more a day
  4. Nutrition (Pick 1 option below that will be a step up in nutrition for you)
    1. No fast food
    2. 1 home cooked meal a day
    3. No processed food

We will be focusing on these four habits because they are the foundation for your health & fitness.  Getting movement everyday, along with fueling your body with proper nutrition and hydration is the key to setting up a foundation of success.

To track your progress and help hold each other accountable we will be using a 30 day tracking sheet that we will provide you with and a groupme, group chat.  Everyday you complete your healthy habit, you will check the box for that day on your tracking sheet.  We will use groupme to hold each other accountable, share helpful tips, receipts etc as well as celebrate each other’s success.  You are building new healthy habits and the goal is progress, not perfection, so we are aiming for 90% completion of each healthy habit.  That’s 27 days out of 30 days.  That allows for some hiccups, while still ensuring you are being held accountable to these new habits.  This won’t be easy, but it will be worth it.

Top Tip for “No sweet treats”

Find something to replace sweet treats. This can be chewing gum, your favorite sugar free drink, a healthy snack, and have them ready when you are tempted by a sweet treat.

Top Tip for “1 hour of movement a day”

Schedule it in the night before.  All to often the day gets away from us and we miss our movement time.  Schedule it in the night or day before and stick to it.  Tell someone else you are going to hold you accountable and invite them along.

Top Tip for “Drink ½ gallon of water or more a day”

Carry a bottle with you throughout your day and have a set time to refill it everyday.  That will give you a goal of when you should have finished your water and need to refill it.  Set the schedule and stick to it.  Bonus: drinking more water will reduce your cravings for sweet treats.

Top tip for “your nutrition option”

Plan ahead and have healthy food options available, especially during busy times.  Busy/stressful times can be the hardest times to eat well and it becomes much more difficult to make a good choice when we don’t have something prepared.  Use your slower times to plan ahead and have healthy options available by preparing something at home or picking up a healthy option.

To support you every step of the way we will have a private Groupme group chat for everyone involved in the challenge.  We will use this group to post tips and tricks for developing your habits, group encouragement and accountability and to celebrate your success and progress along the way.
